The Addo Elephant National Park is situated approximately 75 km north of Port
Elizabeth in the Sundays River valley. The park is the home of a herd of 316 elephants.
This herd is the only one, which is living so far south in Africa. In former times
one believed, that those elephants are a sub-species of the African Elephant. But research
has proved, that the elephants in fact are the African Elephants. Their salient red colour
they get from the red earth. The female elephants do not have tusks.
The Gorah Elephant Lodge is situated in the park. The Gorah House was built in
1856 and is now a National Monument. The Gorah House has two dining rooms, two living rooms,
one library, one Curio Shop and a water hole in front of the main terrace. There is
also a Boma with pool and sun terrace, where you can enjoy dinner. An experienced
ranger will take you on game drives or discover the nature horse riding, hiking or cycling.
You will be accommodated in luxury tents. Please note, that the Camp has no electricity.
In the tents are solar lamps but no plug sockets.
Every day the elephants are coming up to the main house to drink out of the small water hole,
a daily nature event! These are the settings in which your wedding will be arranged.
The terrace looks as in the classic feature film "Out of Africa".
