    Matahari Beach Resort & Spa
On north-western Bali, an area not touched by tourism, and located directly on a fine-sand, dark lava beach near Pemuteran, not far from the Bali Barat National Park, the Matahari Beach Resort and Spa welcomes ist guests. Traditional Balinese achitecture acted as godfather during the building of the resort. Local materials such as marble, paras, palemanan, wood and bamboo were all used. From them, Balinese craftsmen created a resort that fits perfectly into the landscape. The Matahari Beach Resort & Spa supports gentle tourism. From the outset, the resort placed great emphasis on taking local values and customs into consideration. Guests have the opportunity to get to know Balinese culture in all its artistic and culinary variety.

Rooms/Service: Guests stay in the resort's 16 bungalows. There are four different cagegories available: Garden View, Premium Garden View, Deluxe Bungalow and Super Deluxe Bungalow.

The bungalows differ according to their location, size and furnishings. Common to all of them, however, are the hand-carved, double-panelled Bali doors leading to the living room/bedroom. These rooms have been decorated in soft warm coulours and are furnished with a large Balinese double bed or two single beds. A refined touch is the lighting, which allows the warm shades of wood to gleam gently. All bungalows have air conditioning, which can be regulated individually via remote control, telephones, minibars and electronic safes. Each unit includes a marble bath with king-size bathtub and its own small garden courtyard containing tropical plants and an open-air shower in the shape of a water-spewing Balinese mythical creature. In addition, the Deluxe and Super Deluxe Bungalows provide guests with twin washbasins and bidets. Adjoining the Super Deluxe Bungalow is a small pavilion in the centre of a lotus pond.

At the Dewi Ramona restaurant, Eastern and Western influences make for delicious culinary fusions and contrasts. Guests can, if they choose, discover the secrets of this exotic cuisine in professionally supervised cooking courses.
The resort has a wine cellar of its own and offers a wide selection of high-quality vintages, the perfect complement to the restaurant's gourmet cuisine. The Wayang Cocktail Bar is the resort's focal point. Guests meet up here both before and after dinner to enjoy a classic drink or a fruity cocktail.

Another highlight is the Parwathi Spa. Its architecture is modelled on that of Bali's royal water palaces; its approach based on the interplay between water and earth as the source of relaxation and inspiration. The treatments use traditional massage techniques, precious oils and natural essences, and are carried out by two specialists.

Activities: There are a wide variety of sports at the resort, with a particular accent placed on the water. The fresh-water pool is large - 23 x 11 metres - and the fine-sand lava beach with clear-as-glass seawater and small tides offers ideal conditions for snorkelling and diving. Motorboats can be taken out for long or short trips. Guests can also play tennis, badminton and golf, or explore the island's scenic delights on mountain-bike and trekking tours.
